MiriMON can help Manufacturers during development, testing, certification and in–field support. De–bug software builds are often unrepresentative of the real target builds, either in footprint or performance, and they rarely have any elegant reporting or analysis support. MiriMON does not have these limitations. It supports automated testing and automatic information gathering during manual testing. As the reporting rules and thresholds are configurable, the information reporting from deployed devices can be tuned retrospectively.

Manufacturer Field Support

Troubleshooting end-to-end service problems, that are not necessarily due to a consumer device fault, can be expensive. As network subscribers often associate the services they receive with the physical device itself, a wide range of problems are reported as consumer device faults. The cost of investigating these problems is significant.

MiriMON provides a remote view of the health and performance of an individual or a group of set–top boxes deployed by a network operator. The real–time and historical information provided by MiriMON can help a Manufacturer identify the root cause of the problem. By accessing the MiriMON information remotely the manufacturer may be able to analyse and resolve the problem without a site visit. Allowing manufacturers to support deployed devices remotely (i.e. efficiently) can improve the support service for the network operator.

Reduce Development and Testing Costs

MiriMON can reduce the cost, time and risk of bringing a consumer device to market. MiriMON monitoring allows critical diagnostic data to be gathered during integration testing, without compromising the software footprint or performance (unlike conventional de-bug software builds). This data can subsequently be directly related to the MiriMON data from the same device in the field, helping identify differences in the development environment, acceptance environment and deployed environment. MiriMON provides elegant reporting and analysis support that improves testing efficiency.

MiriMON and TR–069

TR–069 is often used as a by–word for monitoring, however it is primarily a standard for configuration, hence the TR–069 server name ACS: Auto-Configuration Server. TR–069 Vendor Extensions are required in order to provide anything close to the proactive full-population monitoring required by today’s operators.
